Roundtable
The Psychology of a Website
Web Point Oh! is pleased to host this roundtable that will explore the psychology of a website. They will host a discussion to help participants understand how to perform a “psychological and cultural” evaluation on their target audience; determining the best structure, design and content to present to end users.
The discussion will focus on how most websites generally serve users with similar personalities and, to a degree, a specific culture. These personalities and culture sets can actually be defined and effectively marketed to. We will discuss that websites can no longer be “one size fits all” - they must begin to evolve to best serve their audiences. We’ll finish the session by providing some practical advice on how to begin the process.
The goal of this session will be for participants to walk away with first-hand experience on how to:
- identify the target audience for a website
- define the cultural values and personality traits of that audience
- translate that information into website interaction guidelines
- create a site map that will be a visual representation of the site’s structure
- build wireframes of key pages showing page layout, features and functionality
By completing these five steps for your own organization, you will have a detailed “blueprint” that can be used by a web development team to build a better website experience for your audience.
